  • 5 stars out of 5Saved my Son's foot!

Bought these shoes for my son starting secondary school. He was involved in a collision with car 2 months later and if it wasn't for these shoes he would have probably had major injuries to his foot. As it was the shoe took the brunt of his foot being run over by a 4x4 all the lace holes had been scraped off and although he had a nasty scuff on his foot (not to mention two broken legs!) the shoes were still pretty intact. Having been disappointed in the quality and durability of Clarks shoes over recent years I cannot fault these and am just about to buy him another pair to replace those that were ruined in the accident as he can finally get back into proper shoes! Well done and thank you Clarks, for those who don't think these will last, I would beg to differ! Feedback from Georgie at Clarks: Thank you so much for your review, I was sorry to learn what has happened to your son and hope he is making a full recovery. I have emailed you directly to discuss this further. Many thanks

  • 4 stars out of 5Lovely shoe - not for school!

I am really struggling as a parent to keep our Son's new High school's rules on 'laces only' My son is 12yrs old and only has tiny feet - E fitting size 2 This is the only shoe that we have found on the market that fits him. Don't get me wrong it's a stunning shoe and ideal for weddings and formal wear. This design is not robust for outdoor wear in the playground and will not last him long. Please can I appeal to Clarks to re-think their ranges and talk to schools regarding their rules. I too work at a school and they too are insisting on laces for both girls and boys. Although I prefer velcro for children, changing at PE times etc. schools are forcing parents to find lace up shoes for school. Kind regards A frustrated Mum Feedback from Clarks: Thanks for leaving a review; we’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with your purchase. We value all our customer feedback so thank you for your comments which have been fed back to our team.

  • 5 stars out of 5Ideal for school and any other smart occasions.

    Jodie, luton

Both of my boys have theses as school shoes, but they also use them as part of their Sea Scouts uniform and for black-tie music concerts. I think they look very smart and the boys say that they're also comfortable enough to run around in at break times. End result...everybody's happy! :-)

  • 5 stars out of 5Great stylish shoes!

    Marion, liphook

This is the 3rd pair of Hoxton chap shoes my son has had and can honestly say they are the best shoes for a fantastic price. My son is usually fussy with his shoes but he says these are very comfy and trendy at the same time also very hard wearing.

  • 3 stars out of 5Great shoe, but split side

    Sarah, fareham

My son loves the shoes, as look good and he is very fashion conscious. But after wearing them for less than two months the side has split and started to come away, also the lace ends came off, making it difficult to re-thread if undone too much. My son it's not heavy on his shoes has always worn Clark for 12 years, I've never experienced this before ands so really disappointed in theses and I would expect better quality. Feedback from Clarks: We are very proud of the quality of our products and to ensure this all our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale.  If you are disappointed with any of our products please return to a store with your receipt so a member of staff can investigate. Many thanks

  • 4 stars out of 5Great school shoes

    Caroline, ripon

My son has very narrow feet (C/D)and these were the only suitable shoes I could find for school in an "E" width. They seem to fit (although he hasn't worn them yet) and most importantly he likes the look of them, despite them looking very formal (and in my opinion more of an office shoe!). Shame Clarks don't do Hoxton Walk in an E width as those were his preferred style. Lets hope the shoes stand up to the rigours of school wear 'n' tear. Please Clarks can you do more styles in D and E width fittings? Feedback from Clarks: Thanks for your comments. Traditionally we have a low demand for D and E styles, hence the limited number of styles available. However, we are re-looking at this issue and hope to improve our range of products soon. Many Thanks

My son aged 14 is very tall and has long, narrow feet. These are perfect for him as a school shoe. He says they are comfortable. They look good...nice and slim not too clumpy. Great price too!

  • 4 stars out of 5Good stylish shoe for young lads

    John, ivybridge

Chosen by my 13 year old lad and I must admit it was a good looking shoe and choice that I would be happy with making for myself. A move away from the traditional child's black school shoe that he used to have. No problems with fitting and with a school uniform in black it looks just the part. Not showy or flash, but more subtle than that and if noticed it would. Could not fail to notice it was a stylish well thought out choice and a little bit...cool. Given it a 4 as it will be interesting to see how robust it is, but I would think it could handle school use, perhaps not a full on football match, but day to day handling...we'll see. For design and presence a definite 5.

  • 3 stars out of 5Good looking shoe but didn't suit my son

    Karen, wilmslow

My 12 year old son loved the look of these shoes and as his school has banned Velcro strap shoes, I thought these would be ideal. My son is below average height for his age and a size 4 and a half shoe. My immediate reaction was that the shoes did look very long on his feet. He was unsure and as he wasn't in uniform we thought we'd get them and see if they looked better with school trousers. Unfortunately after trying them on again at home they still looked a bit like clown shoes on him! We ended up taking them back. It's a shame as they are a nice looking, trendy shoe but maybe for a taller boy.

  • 5 stars out of 5Excellent school shoes

    Jane, bourne

This is the second pair of these that my son has had for school and they have proven to be stylish and hardwearing. The only minor criticism would be that the laces wore out and had to be replaced but as they have lasted a year I can't really complain.

  • 5 stars out of 5Easy shopping!

I have my son's feet measured by Clarks halfway through the school holidays; order several pairs of shoes online and have them sent to our local store. A few days later I receive an email to say the shoes are in store and we go in and try them on at our leisure. This summer it was The Hoxton Chap we chose and they are comfy, stylish and look smart with his school suit.

  • 1 stars out of 5Dreadful

    Maria, london

I cannot understand how these shoes can be advertised as school shoes. A week in and they need to be replaced. A kick in the playground and the end of the shoe is peeled off, not just scoffed but lost thick layer of leather.

  • 5 stars out of 5Best school shoe

    Karen, london

After trying various different makes of shoe from high street stores that lasted a maximum of 5 weeks (playing football etc took it's toll) we finally found a shoe that not only was considered stylish by my son, but was long lasting. This pair has lasted 5 months and we are only changing because he needs a different size - best school shoe on the market, I know as we have tried them all and some were twice the price of these.

Purchased these today after a parade around numerous shops. The advice and fitting was first rate and they pleased my son. They seem very comfortable, lightweight, robust and a very good price too. Real test is when used for school.

Bought these for my teenage son. Very smart and good quality. Please start marketing them in smaller sizes so that younger children can have lace up shoes.
