  • 1 stars out of 5VERY DISAPPOINTED

I brought these shoes in August ready for my 7 year old to go back to school. Within a couple of days they were badly scuffed. I had been using the Clarks kids shoe polish. I noticed yesterday they are now so badly scuffed you can see the white of the shoe a hole has appeared in the leather. I always buy my children their shoes from Clarks and I am very disappointed at £45 I expect them to last longer than a month! They are boys shoes so of course they need to be hard wearing. I certainly would not recommend these. Feedback from Clarks: We are very proud of the quality of our products and to ensure this all our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale.  If you are disappointed with any of our products please return to a store with your receipt so a member of staff can investigate. Many thanks

  • 1 stars out of 5Very disappointed

We bought these shoes for both my boys on 1 September. After a week we returned to the store as one pair had become stretched and ill fitting. They swapped them for a new pair, but this isn't what I expect when paying more than £40 for a pair of shoes girl a 5-year old. This evening I have noticed that the other pair of shoes, which are only 46 days old, is also in need of repair. The insoles have come loose and are flapping around and rucking up. I guess another trip to the store is in order. I am furious as I have never bought my children cheap shoes, but I feel that despite the price tag, these shoes are very poor quality. Feedback from Lily at Clarks: Thanks for leaving a review, I'm sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with your purchase. We are of course aware of the effects that a school day may have on our school shoes and they are tested with this in mind. However, the impact that they receive can also have an affect on this. All returns are monitored and this information is used by our design teams to make any improvements in the future. As you are unhappy, please return to store with the shoes, your daughter and your receipts for a manager to look into. Thanks.

  • 1 stars out of 5Very disappointed

I am very disappointed with the manufacture of these shoes. I have always bought school shoes from Clarks and have always been impressed with the quality. This shoe had a sock lining which previously has been leather in the shoes we have bought before. After a couple of weeks school wear the lining began to roll up making it uncomfortable for my son to wear. I purchased the first pair in July 2015 ready for wear in September 2015 which I returned to the store at Meadowhall Sheffield. The person I spoke to said that because the return by date had expired they couldnt refund or exchange. But as a "gesture of goodwill" they would exchange for another pair. Regardless of goodwill or not its irrelevant as I expect a pair of shoes of clarks standards I expect them to last longer than 2 weeks. I did get a second pair and the very same happend. I returned them again and received a completly different reaction. They were very sympathetic and understanding and said that shouldn't happen. A different approach than I originally received. I am now going to go to store to check the fit of the new shoes ordered with a leather insole. I would like to ask Clarks why the majority of their shoes now have sock insoles. Please take note of these reviews and replace the insoles with leather. I feel I am now restricted with the choice of shoes I have for my son and will be forced to look elsewhere. Feedback from Clarks: Thanks for leaving a review; We are sorry to learn that you are unhappy with the quality of the sheos you have purchased for your son. Here at Clarks we value all our customer feedback so thank you for your comments which have been fed back to our team.

  • 1 stars out of 5Terrible quality!

    Sarah, leeds

I ordered these for my 7yr old son on the 21st December (one month ago). The metal buckle clip thing that the velcro strap goes through has completely bent out of shape to the point that the velcro strap is too long and trails on the floor when my son wears them. Very disappointed! Feedback from Clarks: I am sorry you are disappointed with your purchase. As a company we have rigorous processes in place from when we design the shoes, to getting them wear tested for several weeks on children’s feet and quality checked throughout the manufacture process. We collate all consumer feedback and monitor reviews and use it when looking at updating our products and this is why feedback is so valuable for us as a company, to help us make improvements. As you are disappointed please return to your local store with your receipt for a member of staff to investigate.

  • 5 stars out of 5Really good shoes

    Mary, sidmouth

These are the best shoes we have found for our son. They are sturdy and waterproof. He can run across wet grass and not get his feet wet. They clean up well and have lasted much longer than his previous pairs of shoes. Larger sizes please.

  • 1 stars out of 5Poor quality

I am so surprised that I'm writing this review. I've found clarks shoes so durable in the past. My son returned to school today (he's 5) in his Tam Go shoes, which he had chosen. I have just picked him up and they are in a dreadful state after just one days wear. Both shoes are really scuffed and look like they have been worn for months rather than just one day. They school playground doesn't have any climbing frames or brick walls for him to climb, so that's not the reason, and last year we had the Diggy up GTX (although it was called a different name last year) and they were brilliant. I am extremely disappointed with the performance of these shoes and sadly, based on todays experience, could not recommend them. Feedback from Clarks: Thanks for your comments. We do recommend shoe care items that help reduce the appearance of scuffs and scrapes. If you go into one of our stores, they will be more than happy to advise you on our products that should help.

  • 1 stars out of 5Not recommend

    Ewa, preston

I always buy school shoes for my boy from Clarks and for the first time I'm very disappointed. After 6 weeks I have to throw them in the bin. They are so scuffed and have hole in the leather on toes area so I can see lining underneath. Usually school shoes from Clarks looks like this after 5-6 months so I don't understand what is wrong with this pair, especially that I can see it's not only my bad opinion. Feedback from Lucy Clarks: We are very proud of the quality of our products and to ensure this all our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale. Please be advised for any future purchases we would always recommend visiting your local Clarks shop with the shoes and the receipt so the manager can look into the situation. Many thanks

  • 5 stars out of 5Lasted a full school year!

    Rachael, southport

I spotted these on line last year, they were never in the branch so had to get the store to order them in as I wanted my son's feet measured in store and to have them store fitted. This was a bit inconvenient but well worth the effort. They look stylish and like a proper shoe not a trianer. My son is 8 and can't be bothered with laces so the rip tape strap is important. He is, however, size 4 and this is the biggest size listed (out of stock now) so I would like to echo the other review that requests larger sizes and hope they have them in stock come September. The current pair are scuffed at the toe, the soles are well worn and the lining has started to come out but they have been a great shoe and have been worn every day for school for the whole of my son's time in Year 3. Well worth the money!

  • 5 stars out of 5Fab shoes!

Bought these on recommendation from a friend. So far so good, they are comfortable and appear really well made and sturdy. Can't comment on the Gore-tex feature yet as it's been dry, but all in all really glad that I purchased these. Jo Bognor Regis

  • 1 stars out of 5Disillusioned with Clarks

I have always believed in buying quality school shoes for my children. Now as a grandparent I still maintain that belief and insist on buying Clarks shoes for my grandchildren and they have always proven to be well made and robust. HOWEVER, THESE SHOES ARE NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE. My 4 year old grandson started school with his new shoes in September, ball games are not allowed in the playground and he only wears the shoes at school, but there is a hole in one toe, the other is badly scuffed, the insoles have rucked-up and become completely detached and both heel supports have come away from the shoe. Looking at the other reviews, Clarks should just admit the inadequacy of the quality of this shoe and withdraw it from sale in order to protect their brand reputation. I expect the feedback to include 'we test all our products, it's the fault of the user, sorry you're not satisfied'. Not good enough Clarks, you have loyal customers who deserve better. Feedback from Lily at Clarks: Thanks for leaving a review, I was sorry to read of your disappointment with your recent purchase. If you ever have any problems with a Clarks product we always advise to return to store as soon as possible for a member of staff to investigate. Many thanks.

  • 1 stars out of 5Clarks Goretex shoes poor quality

    Stuart , yelverton

I bought these shoes as I thought by buying the most expensive shoes Clarks make the leather quality and it would be better than their other shoes. Naive I am. These shoes are 6 weeks old and look like 6 years old. I have polished them weekly but the leather has started to peel and crease. This is the last pair of Clarks I will ever buy. £45 for an inferior quality leather, exactly as bad as the last pair I bought. They chose to hide behind their 3 month warranty on selling inferior products at high prices. RIP OFF Britain at it's finest. Feedback from Emma at Clarks: Thanks for leaving your review and I am sorry to learn of your disappointment. We are very proud of the quality of our products and to ensure this all our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale. Therefore, please get in contact with our Customer Care team on 01458 899901 for further assistance. Thanks again for leaving your review and in the meantime please accept my further apologies.

My 7 year old son loves them. He said the sole was very comfy and waterproof is cool! I appreciate them being available in wider fits. Would recommend.

  • 5 stars out of 5Best school shoes to date

    Emma, fareham

Excellent shoes. My son wore these solid for 8 months and they always polished up well, even the light scuffing on the toe. The sole has remained intact, they've never leaked & if it weren't for his need for a bigger size he'd be wearing them this summer. Please Clarks, increase your size range for this style! I don't know what I'll go for when my son exceeds a size 4!!

  • 1 stars out of 5awful.

I am so fussy with shoes and after I come across these I was so happy I found some lovely smart shoes and that they are waterproof. I did think they are a little pricey but after always buying Clark I didn't mind cause the quality is always on top form. I'm so disappointed that my son wore these and after 3 weeks were totally ruined. They are so thin and my 5 year old knows to look after things and to be careful but these are scuffed to bits. It's embarrassing to think that not even a term in and they are going in the bin. Clarks, can I return these? I wouldn't usually but seriously??? Feedback from Lucy at Clarks: We are very proud of the quality of our products and to ensure this all our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale.  If you are disappointed with any of our products please return to a store with your receipt so a member of staff can investigate. Many thanks
