  • 5 stars out of 5Well made classic shoe.

    Conrad, york

I bought these as I wanted a well made shoe, and was prepared to spend a little extra for something that fitted the bill. The Dorset Boss is a great shoe, a classic timeless style, I couldn't be happier with, and I would reccomend them to anyone!

  • 2 stars out of 5Super comfy, but lost its quality style

    nigel, london

My wife bought these exact same shoes just over 12 months ago to wear with my taylored suits on business appointments and I was amazed at the comfort and quality of the look Clarks had produced on this classic style shoe. I do a lot of walking around central London so need shoes which offer not only a sharp look, but comfort as well. My exisitng well worn pair needs to retire so I ordered another pair from Clarks and was horrified at the difference, which is not just a one off as also checked in local store as well. Although still super comfortable, the leather no longer has that high quality smooth shine and overall looks like a very cheap version in comparison. This is definately not an improvement and think Clarks have gone backwards on this classic for those of us looking for both comfort and quality styling in shoes for business use.

  • 5 stars out of 5Stress free shopping

    Jonathan, crawley

I hate shopping for shoes. I go into a shop and mention I am size 13. That is usually the end of conversation - they have no size thirteens. If they do, they are trainers and they don't have wide fitting. Clarks online not only good quality shoes, not only size thirteen but also wide fitting. Thank you Clarks. JR-J

  • 5 stars out of 5So good they're never discounted.

Bought these shoes regularly for years. Two pairs last 2 - 3 years with everyday work use. You can tell they're quality because Clarks never have the urge to offer a discount on them! Shame, I might be tempted to buy 4 pairs instead of 2 if they did!

  • 4 stars out of 5Smart and excellent value

    Richard, cardiff

I bought Dorset Boss size 8.5 width H September 2013 in Cardiff to replace a pair of Loake 2000's. The change was forced on me because I now have to use bulky orthotic in-soles. The removable in-sole and H wide were perfect to accommodate them. This review Feb 2014 after wearing them approximately 15 times. I liked - - high shine polished leather - most competitors only do the duller calf leather - rubber in-set sole (for some protection from wet pavements) - cheaper than competitors charging £150 - £250 for Toe Cap Oxford - the padded strip around the back and sides, and padded tongue - being able to choose prospective shoes on the internet and print the pages I was interested in so that I had a short list when I got to the shop - helpful and cheerful shop staff I disliked - - Clarks logo embossed on the outside. I wish Clarks did not feel the vanity to have to add this. Might also reduce manufacturing cost. - label printing so small I need a magnify glass to read sizes (a minor point). They are comfortable but the weight makes them tiring after a long day. Not a criticism because Leather soled shoes are always going to be heavy (1060gm / pair), I mention it so readers are aware. I am surprised that I can feel the pedals through the soles both driving and cycling. Perhaps a downside of rubber in-set soles not spreading the load as well as Leather or polymer soles? Shortcomings aside I am happy enough with them that I will be buying a pair of the similar styled Dorset Limit.

  • 4 stars out of 5Simple and elegant

    Sophia, letchworth garden city

Great black shoes that look more expensive than they really are. Only quibble is that the pair I bought online came up half a size larger so will have to take to a store to exchange for a smaller size which is a nuisance. This is the only reason I've give 4 stars and not 5. They are lovely shoes. Feedback from Clarks: We do try to be as consistent as possible in terms of sizes and width fittings and all our styles are fit tested as part of our product development process.  However we do find that styles will fit differently due to the differences in design and that a customer may need to select a bigger or smaller size in order to find the most suitable fit.

  • 4 stars out of 5Really comfortable smart shoes

    Andrea, sutton

My husband bought a pair of these some years ago. He wears them to work everyday. They last forever and according to him, they are the most comfortable shoes he's ever had. So now that his first pair is not looking so smart anymore, he bought new ones. He doesn't even want to try others. It is not 5 stars because these are not cheap shoes, but for the quality and durability, it is well worth.

  • 5 stars out of 5Really comfortable on first wear

    David, new malden

I have four pairs of Clarks City Way shoes (an earlier version of the Dorset shoes) which are all about 7 years old (3 black and one tan). Two of the pairs have been worn at least once per week so the back is beginning to wear and the sole is worn down though still useable. I bought these and another pair on the 20% off two pairs offer and they fit perfectly and if anything are even more comfortable than the old pairs where the passing has worn down. If they last anything like my City Way shoes they end up costing £10 per year!

I have been wearing Clarks shoes for a long time. They are so comfortable and very stylish and looks so good with tailored suites. In my mind this is one of the best purchase I have ever made.

  • 1 stars out of 5Poor shoes, poor service

Have to agree with previous comment. Ordered the shoes via store, they were very poor quality with dents in the leather at the heel area. Another customer gone.

  • 5 stars out of 5More expensive than other models for a reason.

    Mike, eastleigh

I'm hard on shoes with long walks at both ends of my commute, and walking between sites across town on a daily basis. I've been through two pairs of these and they have fared better than many more expensive shoes that I have bought in the past. Comfortable, look good, and last long enough to justify the price. Recommended.

I have trouble with my feet as I am a wide fit and had problems getting shoes to fit. These shoes are good fitting and they are also repairable. These shoes can be soled and heeled with or without steel tips and with steel tips they are very noisy. But they go with jeans trousers or suits and are versatile.

I bought these shoes for Clarks in Romsey last weekend. They are a wide fitting and are both smart - retaining a shiny finish - and immediately very comfortable.

  • 3 stars out of 5Down at Heel

I bought these for my son's school shoes because they looked smart and durable. The heels lasted less than half a term and he doesn't even walk to school! This is not what I expected from Clarks and a shame as the leather uppers are beautifully stitched. Feedback from Georgie at Clarks: Thanks for leaving a review, I'm sorry to hear that you’re unhappy with your purchase. We are of course aware of the effects that a school day may have on our school shoes and they are tested with this in mind. However, the impact that they receive can also have an affect on this. All returns are monitored and this information is used by our design teams to make any improvements in the future. As you are unhappy, please return to store with the shoes, your son and your receipts for a manager to look into. Thanks.

  • 2 stars out of 5Comfy, but poor quality.

I've been wearing the Boss range for years, but with each revision the quality drops. After only a couple of months the leather on the heels has worn away, leaving the nails sticking out. This is not what I would expect from a pair of shoes costing £90! Sorry Clarks, you need to do better. Feedback from Emma at Clarks: We are very proud of the quality of our products and to ensure this all our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale. I'm sorry to hear of your disappointment and would suggest returning to a Clarks store with your receipt so a member of staff can investigate.

  • 5 stars out of 5Classic shoe

    Susan, ryde

I wanted a classic style shoe for a wedding I was to attend. I tried several shops but found them uncomfortable. I returned to my local Clarks shop where I purchased a pair which fitted me perfectly (I purchased a similar pair 27 years ago for my own wedding and the new pair are just as good.)

  • 3 stars out of 5Bring Back Dino Boss

    zdenek, london

These are good Clarks as always, good design, fine quality, it is a shame that Clarks decided to take step back and offers again lower quality sole which are again slippery as ....! It is shame when last year for the same price 90pounds Clarks selling exceptional Dino Boss with superior antislippery sole, now Dino Boss is gone, we have Dorset Boss, but welcome back to immitation cheap slippery everywhere zone. It is a real shame, was hoping for good one again for this price.

  • 5 stars out of 5Brilliant, Comfortable, Smart.

    Miles, pickering

I've been wearing these shoes almost every day for 8 months now and they're still in prime condition. The leather wears well, and you don't end up with ugly creases in between the toe cap and the laces like you so often do. Polished once a week and they keep their shine no problem. They're very comfortable and fit around your foot well, much more supportive than your standard office shoe, brilliant if you have to walk anywhere. Not quite as chunky on the foot as they look in the pictures. Can't recommend highly enough.

  • 5 stars out of 5A fantastic shoe that will last you years!

    Andrew, rugby

I don't know about you, but I don't go and buy a £90 pair of shoes very often. When I do they must be right. The fit must be perfect, the quality first rate, and they must be comfortable straight out of the box. I bought a pair of these shoes 3 years ago and they were the best shoe I ever owned. With almost daily use they have now worn out and today I purchased my second pair. In the intervening period the price has gone up by £20, but the quality remains undiminished. I can thoroughly recommend these shoes. They will look smart and remain comfortable for many years.

Within 2 months of using them for office use the under soles have all worn away and now chips are coming away from the shoe sole!!! I did not expect this!!!! Feedback from Erin at Clarks: Thanks for leaving a review and I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with the product. All of our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale, so this seems very unusual. As you have been left feeling disappointed please return to a store with your receipt so a member of staff can investigate. All returns are logged for feedback to our design teams and this information is used to help us improve for the future.
