    Looking to replace my much loved ATL's but very disappointed to find that you don't make them with magnetic catches. The truth is that velcro or so-called riptape, hook & eye fasteners or whatever, does not last - whereas the magnetic fasteners really do. LET ME KNOW when you return to magnetic catches and I will buy another pair and continue doing so. How many customers can Clarks afford to lose by diluting your Unique Selling Point of design? Feedback from Clarks: Due to the increases in costs of manufacturing the magnetic clasp we have been unable to continue this type of fastening. It is important to us to maintain our prices and make sure we always deliver value for money for our customers.     Bought these sandals early today so maybe doing a review a bit early , but so nice to wear, the fit is great, my last pair of sandals lasted 4years, I think and hope these will last longer.

    The first pair I had were returned as the stitching came apart where the main strap meets the sole on the outside. Clarks happily replaced them! The same has happened on the replacement pair after next to no use. This time I have restitched them myself, with a few bloodied fingertips, hoping they will last longer. They are very comfortable, but poorly made. Why can't we make them here in the UK rather than in China?

    I purchased two pairs of these sandals in May in preparation for our summer holiday. My husband has been wearing Clarks sandals for many years, but for the last few has had a problem obtaining any in black. Thankfully these were available this year so I bought a pair for wearing and a pair in reserve for the future. With the inclement weather we'd been 'enjoying' at home, there was no need to wear these until we went off on holiday in July - unfortunately within three days the sandals began to fall apart. The stitching failed on different sides at the back of both sandals and the straps began to come away from the sole. On our return home I took both pairs of sandals back to my local Clarks store where a very helpful customer care assistant examined the faulty pair and immediately agreed to refund my money, However, when I said I wished to return the second pair (unworn, still in box) since the likliehood was that the same would happen with those, I was refused a refund as technically the sandals were not faulty and I was outwith the time limit for a refund. I respectfully disagreed with this assessment, but still had to leave the store with a 'goodwill' gift voucher instead of my money being refunded. Not impresssed with sandals nor decision. Feedback from Clarks: Thank you for your review I was sorry to learn you have been left feeling disappointed with this product. Please be advised we are able to refund unworn items as long as they are within our 28 day returns policy. Therefore, as your second pair were not faulty we are only able to offer goodwill vouchers for the full amount.     Ordered online 5/06/2016 and was happy being delivered quick but not so happy with these ATL black sandals. I tried them on straight out of box and noticed a gap in the middle of the left sandal at the side of the insole for what I see is clearly the insole has not been stitched in and could actually see glue. Why on earth cant the insoles be stitched in all round, from heal to toe. Quite obviously Clarks are still not listening to what their customers want. ATL sandals to be made the way they use to be and also without cheap nasty velcro fastening. Its crystal clear upon close inspection these sandals have been very very cheaply made and Clarks do not have any quality control before these sandals have left the factory for what could well be made in the back streets of India. Clarks you are no doubt going to loose all your customers including me now for the ATL unless you act quick and get these sandals made back to be quality way they used to be. Being what Clarks customers expect That's a fact if your managers and chief take note and care to read all these reviews what is self-evident for you to see and do something about it if you value Clarks customers. I will return these cheap nasty made sandals for the same reason all these reviews on here have returned faulty and unsatisfactory being that we are so disappointed from a supposedly good name like Clarks at one time for the ATL sandal. SHAME on you CLARKS.     I recently purchased a pair of these sandals, and to my delight they have served me me well already. Having taken a holiday abroad these sandals were so light on my feet in the hot sun I hardly noticed I had them on at all. They were very comfortable and felt secure over the rough terrain that you find abroad in some countries Satisfied Southbourne Dorset

    I can only echo what others are saying regarding the magnetic clasps. You could set the straps perfectly for your feet and then simply clip them on and off without bending down. Sheer magic! I have been a long time believer in the value of Clarks shoes and sandals and used to live my summers in previous incarnations of the ATLs, but I becoming increasingly concerned by the construction of the soles. Earlier designs were simple, hard wearing and I could pretty much expect the upper to give out before or with the sole. Later versions the sole was giving out before the upper and I was left feeling short changed. I am completely unconvinced by this season's sole design which looks sure to wear out in a year; but maybe that's the idea? I really want to buy Clarks again, but cannot justify it without the convenience and hardwearing quality of my last pair. If I had know the direction Clarks were going to take I would have stocked up 2/3 years ago.     I trust whoever suggested doing away with magnetic clasps has been demoted to box design. I have no interest in paying fifty+ pounds for velcro sandals. I can have four pairs of sandals from other retailers for the same price but I'd rather replace my current Clarks pair.     The last pair of these that my husband had lasted for ages and he was very happy with them, and he particularly liked the magnetic clasp which made them easy to put on on take off. He is not happy with this pair as the magnetic clasp has been replaced with a strip of velcro! He will be looking elsewhere for the next pair, unless you can re-instate the magnetic clasp I am afraid.     Why stop making the magnetic catch sandals, they were the great design,still fully adjustable with rip tape, but so easy to fasten, in my option BIG mistake. But I am only the customer, Think!......without us the customer you wouldn't survive ......     I've been buying your sandals with the magnetic catch for years. I came to replace my current ones and they are not available. This is ridiculous - was the best thing you did, and only Clarks had it. Velcro is rubbish. I'd be happy to pay more for the decent ones. I've managed to get a cobbler to repair my current ones, so I will get a bit more wear out of them, but Clarks have lost a sale and a loyal customer, and will not get it back until they bring back the magnetic catches - other companies can make velcro sandals, and are much cheaper.     Black leather sandals are hard to find..... these are good quality, supple leather and very comfortable to wear. Absolutely adjustable, but supportive - they are a great buy!

    Got to agree with a previous review. Over the years I have had 2 pairs with magnetic clasps, one with plastic - the plastic clips didn't last. Not interested in Velcro, not as easy and won't last. I'm afraid I'll be looking elsewhere...

    Like others, deeply disappointed by lack of magnetic catches - my current pair have lasted a long time (maybe that's the problem??) and have been fantastic. As already said - so what if the catches now cost more, I will happily pay more if I can get the quality, ease of use and durability I've had from my current sandals. Clarks - are you able to supply this quality? Please think again.     Can't believe you have discontinued magnetic fasteners on the Active Air sandals. I wanted to replace my long lasting and excellent pair with the same but find you have joined the pack and become indistinguishable from your competitors with inferior Velcro fastenings.     It's that time again. I need to retire my old friends and buy a new pair of ATL sandals. I'm not fussed on colour but the magnetic fastenings are a life saver. But what's this? Reviewers are moaning the withdrawal of my beloved magnets. Why? Well, Clarks say that they are too expensive to use. Really. What is the additional cost I wonder? Even their product blurb says that the current model benefits from "improved design." Wrong! In reply to a previous customer, they say that they might be reconsidering their "improved design." I wonder if you have? Would you be kind enough to let me know? Until I hear the good news, my cash will be redirected to my local shoe shop. Which is a great shame. My relationship with Clarks goes back many years. Let's hope for good news.

    Well, my husbands beloved magnetic sandals were ruined by the dog. No worries I said, I will buy you a new pair from Clarks. But, you no longer do sandals with magnetic clasps. Husband is very disappointed. Please will you bring back magnetic clasps. I have read the replies from the other upset customers and realise that you stopped doing them because of costs. Husband says he will happily pay more for a premium product, as others have said. Please, please bring them back. They were the best sandals my husband ever had. Listen to your customers requests.     Great to see someone else appreciated the magnetic clasps and took the time to write about it. I have 2 pairs getting old and I have kept revisiting only Clarks at Brent Cross to look for more of this type with no luck and now I know why so of course will stop going back now to look I would be more than happy to buy 4 pairs Size 10 or 10.5 in whatever colours but only with magnetic clasps PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE THEY ARE GREAT SO GET SOME MORE MADE AND ADVERTISE WHAT THEY ARE SO MORE PEOPLE CAN DISCOVER THE DIFFERENCE !!!!

    Just been to local Clarks outlet to replace my much loved and we'll used sandals - only to find magnetic clasps have been discontinued! Usually, I buy a couple of pairs at a time. Disappointingly, your current offering, with its horrid Velcro fastening, now compares with cheap sandals from other manufacturers - and I certainly wouldn't pay the premium price which is asked for this downgraded product.     Why do you not have men's sandals with a magnetic clasp any more? I want to replace mine but you don't sell them any more. You say 'it is the cost'. How do you know what price people will pay for a superior product. I have no interest in what you call 'riptape' (atleast get a better name - 'riptape' symbolises low qualiity i.e. it will 'rip' apart at the third use!).     I, too, have a much loved pair of sandals with magnetic catches. Looking to replace them I have been disappointed that the single feature of these sandals that sets them apart from the rest has been abandoned. I'm not talking about the airflow system which never seemed to do anything for me. It's the magnetic catches. You had a winning design and have now consigned it to the bucket of mediocrity.

    The magnetic fasteners are of the essence for me. I will pay any premium for this feature if you reintroduce it. I will buy two pairs just in case!     I have purchased this type of sandal several times from Clarks but all the previous ones had a magnetic catch which was fantastic.     Despite being unhappy about the lack of magnetic clasps I nevertheless decided to give these sandals a go. Unfortunately my faith was misplaced as the upper became detached from the sole the second time I wore them and so I ended up returning them.     I have 2 pairs of this design. Both have stitching coming apart where the ankle straps join the sole at the arch, inside [two sandals] outside [one sandal], and hence useless after some months daily wear. Some thought needed on reinforcement here. Disliked the riptape. After thirty wears wearing Clarks sandals, I now have none...     They replace a 6 year old brown pair that have given me great service over any terrain. These new ones don't look as robust and already have signs of wear after a couple of weeks.     Can only reinforce the views of many, my grown up son has a severe learning disability and could manage the magnetic catches as they don't need adjusting once set up. The velcro is a rather hit and miss affair and it soon starts to deteriorate with constant use. Please reinstate the magnetic fastenings, don't mind paying more. Been buying him Clarks for years for the fit and don't want to have seek alternatives. Please.

    I for one will not be buying any more of these men's ATL sandals untill Clarks put the magnet back on them, the Velcro is just a pain, without the magnet these sandals are no better than makes the cost half the price and perhaps not as good a quality. I do not accept that the magnets are to expensive to manufacture when others sell for far less without the magnet, it's just greed. Please listen to customer feed back and not just dismiss them.

    I'm sorry, but I've had about 4 pairs of sandals with the magnetic clasp. When I went to buy another pair I was told you've stopped making them. A mistake. They are superb, not like the cheap and tacky velcro fasteners. You've got my email address. Please let me know when you start making them again. In the meantime I'm back on trainers.     These sandals are awful, bought these for my father and they ripped from the side. He only wore them 2 times!     Bought these sandals cost £55 lasted one month and now the stitching has come away from the sole.my last pair of Clarks sandals lasted over 10 years these low quality made in china sandals are very uncomfortable.     These sandals are proving to be very comfortable. The sizing is generous so don't order larger than you need. The width is good, and the straps are adjustable making it possible to obtain the perfect fit. Excellent buy.

    I can not express my disappointment to find Clarks no longer produce the magnetic catches!!!! I can't imagine why this decision was made. Guess the velcro is significantly cheaper than the magnetic catches and some genius got a bonus. I for one will no longer limit my search for new sandals to Clarks. I'm truly sorry for the choice you made.     Ordered online and collected from local Clarks shop Excellent sandal for both fit and comfort. I do wish people would stop whinging and marking the sandal down just because it no longer has a magnetic catch - they are now too expensive to fit and in my experience did not work that well, please get over it and move on. The three Velcro straps mean you can get an excellent fit and the cushioned insole provides a great deal of comfort, I wore the sandals from new for a full day without any discomfort. I would recommend these sandals as a good purchase for both fit and comfort, never had any problems with Clarks products
