  Well made and stylish boots. I'm really happy with them. I tie them lower down (missing out the top two lace holders) for two reason. Firstly, I find them a little uncomfortable around the lower calf when done all the way up. Secondly, the tongue becomes scratched from the back plating of the lace holders if done all the way up.

  I ordered a pair of these Montacute boots and was expecting quality; seemingly I have not been disappointed and if Clarks want to use this comment they can use as long as they credit me with it? 'To wear or not to wear Montacute has posed the question' They look and feel marvellous. I also would like to win another pair of shoes, here's hoping!

  My teenage son brought a pair of these a few months ago and I thought they were the best looking boots I had ever seen. So much so that I "borrowed" them a few times when he wasn't around. He's now gone to uni and guess what - he's only gone and taken his boots with him! Only one option really.......I've got myself a pair (much to his relief) To sum up - great boots, comfy, good value, wear either smart or casual, no negatives applicable.

• They will last 8 months max!

  I loved these boots initially. I bought two, on two separate occasions, but after 8 months, the soles fell apart. Great looking but not worth the money.   These boots look really trendy, fit perfectly and the quality of the finish is second to non. They can be worn either as a formal shoe or casual under jeans. When you order from the net, you wonder about the product until it arrives, but these will not dissapoint and the size ordered is a perfect fit.. VERY PLEASED

• Soles poorly crafted

  I bought these boots in late November, and after only two months of wear the soles have began to come detached from the shoe leather at the toe and heel. Too bad, as these are particularly handsome boots, but sadly not up to the quality standards that one should expect. • So good I brought another pair

  Very good boots. Suffered from blisters for a couple of days so they do need a bit of breaking in but once that was out of the way, they turned out to be very comfortable indeed. Several friends commented on the styling of the boots, possibly with a view to buying a pair themselves! As good, hopefully long lasting boots are hard to come by, I decided to buy another pair for when these ones finally give up the ghost.

• SLIPPERY WHEN WET!!!!

  Realy nice comfortable boots that look good. However be very awre when it's raining or wet.   Boots look really good with jeans but do fit on the large size. Burnished leather does mark very easily so it needs regular maintenance to prevent it looking prematurely worn out.

  I really like these boots. Classic, comfortable and well made. BUT you should try them on. I bought on line (first time buying shoes on line). Usually wear 10 or 11 ended up with a size 8.5!? Even next to my other shoes they look the same so not sure what the script is there. Anyway. Great boots, worth every penny.

• Quality pair of boots

  I've come to expect good quality from Clarks shoes over the years and this certainly ranks at the top. I've never had a pair of Brogue Boots before and wouldn't look anywhere again after these as I will definitely come back again at some stage. The boots are true to size, made of quality materials and are really comfortable. Good for smart/casual wear and already had good coments on the style and look from the family. The time from ordering to despatch to receipt was minimal and really efficient.

  Laced up and under trousers for the day these boots are a very smart alternative for dress down Friday type days. However undone and out of the trouser these boots become an extremely stylish going out boot. Hard wearing and a greta colour these boots are really good value for money.

  The colour on these is lush. I've bought them to go with a brown tartan kilt. Very nice boots. Need to batter them up a little bit. My only slight complaint is the sole is very plain. The part you can see when standing would benefit from some detail. But that is minor.

With my discount code, which a very nice lady from Clarks customer services helped me with as I hadnt realised I had been sent one prior to my purchase, they arrived in very good time. They look great, fit perfectly and look as though they should last me a good while.

  Just received these boots within two days of ordering,the boots are very nice looking well made also a very good fit.I have purchased three different boots on line recently from different companies and returned them all as very poor quality,so I did not expect much when ordering these boots.They are as you would want and in Brown look really nice debating if I should purchase the other colour also.I think these would appeal to all ages.

  I do not usually buy Clarks, but these caught my eye. I am quite large footed with a wide fitting and originally bought the size 13 (im a euro 48). These were huge so I changed for the 12 which fitted like a glove. If I could afford them I would also buy the Darby which also look fab!!!

  I bought a pair of these boots last winter 2013. I've worn them quite regularly on cold and wet days. They’re very comfortable and other than a few scuff marks on the leather they're practically still in perfect condition. Really well made boot with great soles.

  Very comfortable boots, look good & suitable for many occasions but have not lasted long at all. They were bought to replace a similar Clarks pair that had done excellent service over a couple of years of constant wear but these have lasted half of that. The soles are not nearly as solid as they look & have worn through on the studs so now let in water! Disappointing quality.   Just got these before Christmas. Wasn't sure about the sizing at first - Clarks why don't you make shoes in an 11.5??? However after deciding to keep them and wear them for a day I am happy that I did. Well made boot (so far anyway), not as comfortable as most of my other Clarks shoes- they remind me more of my old schoolboy doc martins that used to leave my heals and toes in tatters but eventually fitted like a glove ... so I am hopeful these are the same. The look good with jeans or a suit and the soles will hopefully make my daily hike to the train station in the snow less arduous.

  I bought these boots for my partner after trying on many other branded boots these boots were the most comfortable, value for money and just as, or in some cases, more stylish than other brands! The first wear, as with any new shoes, the ankle leather was a little stiff, but after the initial wear the leather softened and I am reliably informed these boots are extremely comfortable - like wearing slippers apparently. What more can you want from a well made boot......

  As you would expect from a good supplier the delivery was very good. I had been looking forward to receiving these boots and was not disappointed.   These are a great hybrid of traditional brogues with chunky rubber soles like you might find on DMs or other boots. The leather may scratch if you do not look after them and they may be uncomfortable at first, but two pairs of socks and a week of wearing them around the house was enough to break them in nicely. The multiple colour tinting at the toe and heel also looks very good. In short - formal enough for 'smart casual' and comfortable enough that you'll want to wear them all the time. Speedy delivery too :D

  First time buying from Clarkes as always thought you had to be near to the grave to wear their styles, but it seems they've upped their game and got into the noughties! Some really nice styles available. Brilliant website and delivery/return options for free...superb. I always wear an 11 (45) and ordered an 11 in these but they are MASSIVE! Look like a clown in them. Real shame as very well made. Will order a 10 and a half and hope they are a better fit. Feedback from Clarks: We do try to be as consistent as possible in terms of sizes and width fittings and all our styles are fit tested as part of our product development process.  However we do find that styles will fit differently due to the differences in design and that a customer may need to select a bigger or smaller size in order to find the most suitable fit.

  I've had been putting these boots through their paces for over a year now and to the be fair the build quality is flawless but through weathering and wear and tear the laces have become frayed. I gave Clarks customer services a call and told them about how difficult a time I'd been having trying to find a light tan lace replacement. They couldn't have been more understanding the agent emailed around to find me a pair of laces in their warehouse, called me back and promptly sent me a complementary replacement in the post, that I received today. Credit where it's due, Clarks. Well done.

• Disappointing for the price!

  I bought these shoes for £80, and wore them for about 14 months. The leather uppers were quite durable and wore well. The rubber sole is made of a very cheap rubber, it wore down a lot quicker than may be expected for a shoe of this price. 14 months in, the rubber sole is almost worn through (yes, I have owned and worn other shoes during this time, two other pairs). To top it all off, I was walking in some light to medium rain from my car to the office (ten minute walk) last week, and my socks got sopping wet as the shoes soaked up a lot of water. No longer (fairly) water proof. Ive just bought another pair of boots from Clarks, Im thinking of returning them. Very poor show Clarks! Feedback from Clarks: Sorry to hear of your disappointment with your boots.  We only guarantee Gore-tex products to be waterproof, you can improve the water resistance of your shoes and boots by using a protector spray.  If you ever have any problems with a Clarks product we always advise to return to store as soon as possible for a member of staff to investigate.

• All style, no substance.

  These look great. Good enough to buy. I did. Then six months later the sole started falling off. These boots are not welted. The stitching around the welt is for decoration only. The sole is glued on. I'd expect that from a less well respected shoe maker, but not Clarks. Also, the fit isn't great. Yest they're a wide last (G) but they are at least a half a size bigger than stated. Furthermore, after wearing the cheap leather stretches far too much making the boot even larger. I'd avoid buying these as they are certainly not worth the asking price. I'd pay £40 maximum.   I am a regular "Clarks" man, I wear their shoes, I ordered the Montacute Lord boots, yes they are really cool, the colour is pleasing , matching all my clothes. The boots are comfortable , I was able to wear these without having to break them in, a good comfortable fit, I was pleased with the tie up laces which has the easy lace loops at the top of the lace eyes, easy to get on and off. A good solid sole on the boots , they look good and can be worn casual or formal. The best part was the amazing price in the sale, a monster buy, I am really pleased , now a boot convert.

• 2nd pair waiting under my bed

  I bought a pair of these stylish brogue boots on an off the cuff shopping trip for work shoes. The work shoes were left unbought but these fellas have lived on my feet since last autumn. They were comfortable from the beginning and easily softened to the shape of my unusually wide feet. Over the past year the colour has gently changed to that of of an antique leather sofa. Really well made, good quality and excellent value. I now have a second pair waiting under my bed when these finally give up the ghost. Highly recommended.
