These shoes have been great. They have lasted a whole school year as my son's feet haven't outgrown them yet and apart from a little scuffing they look great. Not sure what other reviewers children have been doing to destroy them as my son has autism so spends a lot of time falling over and playing on the floor and they've lasted well. Will be buying again in September.

    Dellamarie from cleckheaton

I used to work for Clarks many many years ago and since having my own kids have always continued to buy from Clarks for quality & fit. I bought these in September for school. My son was only attending part time a couple of hours a week for the first month and then after a month of full time days these shoes fell apart - literally! The stitching came undone on both feet! I have exchanged them for the Deaton as we've had these before - lets hope they are better. Very disappointed!

  • 1 stars out of 5VERY POOR DO NOT BUY!

    Katy, dronfield

We always buy our son's shoes from Clarks and they have lasted a year when he has been ready for the next size. However, this pair of shoes is the worst we have EVER bought. He has only worn these for school for 12 days and they have a hole in the upper part of the toe. They are falling apart. We are endeavouring to get him a new pair - which will not be the same style. We are very disappointed with these shoes and wish we had read the reviews before we bought! Feedback from Clarks: We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with your purchase. We do thoroughly test all our products before they go on sale, so the issue you describe seems unusual. Please return to one of our stores with proof of purchase so the manager can look into it for you. We will happily refund or replace any items deemed as faulty.

These shoes are terible, do noy buy! They did not even last a half term. Started school with these new shoes in September, come the October half term we had to buy new school shoes. We went for Clarks because of build quality and durability, these shoes are not up to standard by a long way. Put us off buying Clarks shoes again, will go else where in future! • 1 stars out of 5Very disappointing

    SHARON from derby

I was so disappointed with this shoe. I bought these for my 6 year old as i wanted a smart looking "proper" school shoe rather than a trainer type one. Unfortunately these shoes lasted only a few months before the seams on the upper came undone and the leather split. The soles were still in good condition as was the rest of the shoe. I returned the shoes to the store to be told that because my sons feet measured a different size to the shoe there was no chance of a return. I have always bought Clarks school shoes and i was so disappointed in these ones. Please think very carefully before spending your money on these shoes. You may find yourself having to dig deep into your pockets for a replacement pair sooner than you would like! • 1 stars out of 5Very diappointing

I bought these shoes for my son at the end of August last year, ready to start school. He is not hard on shoes and we made sure that they are cleaned and smart for each school week. I was dismayed to see that the stitching at the join above the toes has now come undone (firstly on one shoe, now it is happening on the other) and is now letting in water. I did think this was just 'wear and tear' and thought I'd see if I could get it stitched at a shoe menders. When I took them along, the shoe mender said he'd seen this type of thing before and that children's shoes like this 'pop' (his terminology)- he said I'd be better off buying a new pair. I'm really disappointed with these and don't feel inclined to buy another pair of Clarks based on this. After reading some of the reviews in this section, I see this is a common problem: very disappointed. Feedback from Clarks: We are very proud of the quality of our products and to ensure this all our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale.  If you are disappointed with any of our products please return to a store with your receipt so a member of staff can investigate.

I'm 6 years old and I got these when I was 5 and they still look really smart and the leather has not peeled off at all. I have been careful with them because I didn't want to spoil them and they still look like I just bought them. My mummy thinks Clarks shoes are the best because they always stay looking good and don't break.

    Melissa from chorley

My first pair of these shoes didn't wear well, the stitching around the seams on the top of the shoe came apart, i returned to clarks for a replacement pair, the lady told me this can happen with this style of shoe, sure enough the same thing happened again with the replacement pair. I wouldn't buy this style again or recommend it for any boys who like to run around a lot at school, they would be ok for smart shoes to go with a suit but not for robust use.

    Bob from sevenoaks

Having bought a pair of these for my son last term he has worn them every day for the last 10 months and as he is a boy he is tough on shoes. These though have lasted well, yes scuffed toes and worn soles but they will be grown out, before they are worn out. Also for value under £30 for a years every day use can't be bad, if he didnt grow so quick they would last longer. The other good thing about all Clarks kids shoes is that they are fitted and just as well because for a 10 year old he has the widest feet that you do. Other makes would be too skinny and would cramp his feet. Good job!

I bought these for my son in September and he has just got his second pair, half a size bigger for the return to school after half term. They are really comfy, and easy to get on and off and have retained their shape really well. And believe me he wont have been kind to them - they have been kicked around, scuffed, pushed on and off by the back instead of being undone, so they have been punished and even still look presentable for school. Well pleased with the value for money of these shoes! Thanks :-)

I bought my 3 yr old son these shoes in August for him to start nursery in September. Bearing in mind the kids have had holiday October & December/January. • 5 stars out of 5Great school shoes!

    Emma from greenock

I purchased these shoes last year for my son starting primary school. I liked these as they were the smartest shoes avaliable for him with a wide H fitting, all others I felt were very trainer like and not as smart as I felt they should be for school. My son wore these every school day for the full year, and they lasted very well! He is a very typical 5 year old boy, running, climbing, football etc etc and although they were very scuffed, with a bit of polish they looked brand new every time! No wet socks, no holes in the soles (every pair of trainers or other regularly worn shoes have ended up with holey soles!) I will be buying these again this year, mainly because of the excellence of the last pair, but also as there is very limited choice in an H fit, the other few types of shoe avaliable are all (in my opinion) trainers, which are not smart enough to wear to school with a shirt and tie and a blazer.

    Rita, london

These are soft, comfortable school shoes which are also stylish. I bought them for my son for his first year of school and have just purchased a second pair since he's outgrown the first pair. He chose these himself over other shoes which he said were uncomfortable. Having said that, I agree with his choice as I think these are certainly more stylish than a lot of the other styles. Also like the fact that Clarks unlike most shops offer a good fitting service and half sizes.

    Anna from reading

As with other reports here, my four year old who has had about 3 months and a bit of use, the front stitching just came off. We initially bought 'Clarks' as somehow (from word of mouth) believed the brand to be the 'best' for shoes, especially children's. Don't think this is true anymore. Very disappointed with the quality. I will be looking at other brands now. Cannot go wrong and they will be cheaper than Clarks! This is my first experience at buying school shoes for my son & all the stitching has come apart, they lasted less than 6 weeks so took them back to rude staff at Clarks & eventually they reluctantly gave me another pair of which guess what, they've come apart too, the shoes aren't scuffed in anyway yet the stitching is absolutely awful! They are lovely shoes apart from the stitching just such a shame I put my faith in Clarks, will be shopping elsewhere from now onwards as I can't afford to buy new school shoes every 6 weeks at £28 per pair! The best bit is that Clarks feedback will be that the shoes are tested blah blah blah! Feedback from Clarks: Thanks for leaving a review; we’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with your purchase. I brought these shoes for my son at the end of July and put them away ready for the start of school in September. After one month of him wearing them I noticed the stiching coming away at the toe area on both shoes. This is the first pair of Clarks I have brought him as I'd hoped they would last longer then the cheap shoes I would usually buy from Tesco. Am very dissapointed with the shoes they havent even lasted the first school term (September-October 2011) I was not happy with my son and had told him he needs to look after his shoes better but feel bad for saying that now as I've seen on here that it has happened to many other people so clearly is a fault and not just wear and tear. Ive found my reciept for the shoes and will see if i can get a replacment pair. Feedback from Clarks: We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with your purchase. ...as far as I am concerned...they polish well and look smart...we were going to buy them for third year in a row only to discover they don't come in the junnior sizes unfortunately! WHY WHY WHY, Clarks...are these not available in sizes 13 and up?!?!?! I am desperately trying to find boys shoes in size 13.5H and these are perfect...please can you make these in junior sizes, not just the infant ones...not everyone wants to send their children to school in shoes that resemble trainers. So the shoes would get a 5-star rating from me and my son for quality, durability and appearance but the fact that they are not available in the bigger sizes makes my rating go right down to 3. Bought these shoes for my 4yr old starting school in September. Granted he's not the most delicate, but I hoped these shoes would last more than 4 months. Within a couple of weeks the stitching on the velcro strap (on one shoe) had come away so all that was holding the leather to the velcro was glue. After about 2 months the cloth around the ankle cushioning started to wear. And by 4mths the stitching for the leather around the top of the other shoe has started to come away. The shoes look like they're fit to drop to bits and certainly aren't smart enough for school anymore. A bit disappointed to say the least. • 3 stars out of 5A bit disapointing

My 4 year old son started school in January, I choose this shoe knowing at his age he would be playing on his knees, therefore a shoe with a reinforced toe area sounded ideal. Just over three months in the stitching on the top of the shoe is undoing and also there is fraying around the shoe closet to the front of his ankle, neither parts in question would of been in direct contact to the floor. I am disapointed as the overall qualilty of the shoe is good but the finish of the shoe is not great. Feedback from Clarks: We’re sorry to hear you’re unhappy with your purchase. We do thoroughly test all our products before they go on sale, so the issue you describe seems unusual. A great boys shoe. These shoes have passed the Harry test. Great fit, very comfortable and the best school shoe on the market for a 7 year old with wide feet.

I bought these shoes for my 6 year old son around Easter time, and unfortunately I have also experienced fraying of the stitching in the toe area, leaving the toes exposed, and these were a replacement pair after the pair i bought in September did the same! I wouldn't recommend these, and I am struggling to find a pair of Clarks shoes for September as I really don't like the trainer style shoe. Feedback from Clarks: Thank you for leaving a review and we're sorry to hear you are experiencing a similar issue to your last pair of shoes for your son. Please return to one of our stores so our manager can look into the issue, they will also be able to help recommend the best style shoe for your son. We value all our customer feedback so thank you for your comments which have been fed back to our team.

I brought these for my 7 year old son last September and they have lasted him the whole school year. He plays football in them constantly and they have withstood everything thrown at them with a weekly polish. I will be purchasing these again in September for the 3rd year on the run. Highly recommended.

Bought these last September, they survived the entire school year & are still going strong this November. Will definitely get another pair same style, size bigger! Single velcro strap perfect for for a high instep. Just a shame the Jr sizes don't come in H width.

My son wore these shoes just about one month and the sewing stitches at the front came off, not very good quality. Feedback from Clarks: We are very proud of the quality of our products and to ensure this all our new designs and materials are tested before they go on sale.  If you are disappointed with any of our products please return to a store with your receipt so a member of staff can investigate.

The shoes look great. I've had 2 pairs this year. The first pair the stitching at the toe came undone after 2 months and the second pair the Velcro strap came apart after 7 months which is ok going. My son is also a typical boisterous boy so I wasn't surprised at all.
