In the UK, a Clarks store on a high street or in a shopping centre is a familiar sight, but few people realise that a significant number of these stores are operated as franchises. That’s because both Clarks Retail and Franchise stores share the same shop design, product range and operating format.

If you’re considering taking your first steps into running a business of your own this is a tremendous advantage. Clarks is a full member of the British Franchise Association and we are proud to be one of the UK’s leading franchisors. Our franchise network currently consists of 103 stores, which are owned by 50 franchise businesses. Our franchisees are driven to succeed and grow their businesses, and it is not uncommon for franchisees to operate two or three franchise stores.

We believe that people are the key to the success of Clarks franchise and we identify our new franchise partners through a thorough recruitment and assessment process.

  • Be commercially aware and have a strong desire to own their own business

  • Be customer service focused, although a retail background is not always necessary

  • Have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to lead and manage people

  • Be prepared to work hard to achieve success and devote their energy full time towards building a successful franchise outlet

  • Be willing to participate in a thorough training process, embracing learning and development
