Our recruitment process

An interview

A typical interview

Recruitment and selection is the start of what we like to think will be a lasting relationship. It’s about making sure that we’re right for you as much as you being right for us. It’s about discovering the right people with the right attitude and the right skills – what we like to call ' best fit' people.

The process itself should be professional and fun. It should also be open and transparent. So, just how does it work? What can you expect from us and what do we expect from you?

Having applied for a job with Clarks, the first thing we will do is screen your application or CV to make sure that you meet the basic job requirements. We’ll take into account your work experience, knowledge and skills. Sometimes, the screening process will be followed with a quick telephone interview.

If you’re successful in the screening, the next stage is an interview with the relevant manager. And don’t worry, an interview needn’t be an intimidating experience. We’ll talk through your knowledge and skills, personal qualities and aspirations, and what it is that makes you right for that particular job. It’s also your chance to quiz us and ask any questions you may have to make sure this is the right job for you.

We will sometimes ask you (depending on the type of job you’re applying for) to take part in a job specific selection exercise, or to complete an online test or assessment.

And that’s it really. No hidden surprises, no nasty extras. Just a clear and consistent recruitment and selection process. If you have any questions about our recruitment and selection process, please check our your questions answered page.
